Navigating Complex Systems

Nonlinear Ventures brings together best practices in systems thinking, decision making, and data visualization to help leaders understand and address wicked problems. These intractable challenges typically share similar characteristics:
     – Each is unique and without formulaic solution
     – Boundaries are fuzzy and span disciplines
     – Vocal stakeholders do not agree on the path forward
     – ‘Solutions’ may cause new, often worse, problems
We work with government agencies, NGOs, and researchers to untangle challenges and identify leverage points for change. Together, we seek flexible, data-driven strategies that can be evaluated and adapted for maximum benefit as the system responds. While our focus is primarily on climate (wildfire - coastal restoration - benefit cost analysis) and community resilience, we are excited to take on any wicked problem with our partners.
